World No 1 Novak Djokovic suffered a collapse on the court today after being struck on the head by an aluminum-type bottle thrown from the crowd.

The serb required immediate medical attention, halting the match as officials rushed to assist him. The incident has sparked concerns over player safety and the need for stricter security measures at sporting events.

Following his victory at the Italian Open in Rome, Novak Djokovic required medical attention after seemingly being struck on the head by a water bottle.

According to tournament organizers The incident occurred as a child leaned over the railing to hand Djokovic a notebook for an autograph, inadvertently causing an aluminum-type water bottle to tumble out of the child’s backpack and hit the top-ranked player on the top of his head.

Following his opening match victory against French qualifier Corentin Moutet, the world No. 1 was observed with a bump on his head and was undergoing examination by medical professionals.

The incident occurred shortly after Djokovic’s 6-3, 6-1 triumph, raising concerns about player safety and the need for heightened security measures at tennis events.

Djokovic was accompanied by a security guard who bent down to check on the star. While Djovokic knelt motionless on the ground, another member of security came over to assist. Fans could be heard asking one another whose water bottle it was.

After being on the ground for about 30 seconds, Djokovic was helped up and hurried away.

It has not been revealed if the injury will impact Djokovic’s ability to continue playing in the tournament. He’s scheduled to face Alejandro Tabilo in Round of 32.
