“SHE’S REALLY EXPERIENCED, I REALLY RESPECT HER” SAYS IGA SWIATEK ON CAROLINE WOZNIACKI AHEAD OF INDIAN WELLS SHOWDOWN

World number one Iga Swiatek has shown considerable respect for her upcoming quarterfinal opponent, Caroline Wozniacki, at Indian Wells. Swiatek, aged 22, is set to face the former world number one in the last-eight clash in California on Thursday. Speaking about Wozniacki, Swiatek expressed her admiration and anticipation for what she expects to be a “nice match.”

“She’s really experienced,” stated the four-time Grand Slam winner. “I really respect her. I think she is playing great, even after her maternity break she was fighting to come back. I have huge respect. For sure it’s gonna be a nice match, I’m going to prepare like [for] any other opponent, but off the court she’s a great person.”

On the other hand, Wozniacki was also quoted in the report stating that she recognizes the need to play her best tennis in order to have any chance of achieving a positive result against Swiatek.

“Obviously she’s playing good tennis, playing powerfully,” she remarked. “I practiced with her as well a few times after I have come back, during the US Open as well. I know how she plays, but it’s one thing knowing how she plays and also playing against her in a full match. I know that I have to play my best tennis to compete against her, and that’s what I hope to do.”
