Iga Swiatek will play against Zheng Qinwen in Paris Olympics semifinals

Following her win over Danielle Collins, Iga Swiatek will face Zheng Qinwen in the semifinals of the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Chinese player reached her first Olympic semifinal by defeating Angelique Kerber in three sets in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

The head-to-head between Zheng and Swiatek is 6-0 in favor of the Pole. They have faced each other twice this year, at the United Cup and the Dubai Tennis Championships, with Swiatek winning both matches in straight sets. On clay, they have met twice before: once ending in straight sets at the 2023 Stuttgart Open and the other in three sets at the 2022 French Open.

The winner of their semifinal clash will face either Anna Karolina Schmiedlova or the winner of the Marta Kostyuk vs. Donna Vekic match in the final. With none of the remaining players having previously won Olympic gold, a new champion is guaranteed this week in Paris.
