During his semifinal win against Lorenzo Musetti at the 2024 Paris Olympics in Roland Garros, Novak Djokovic lashed out at the umpire and later at his team. Despite these outbursts, the Serb defeated the Italian in straight sets, advancing to the first Olympic final of his career.
The 37-year-old Novak Djokovic, who has been pursuing the elusive gold medal for many years, entered the men’s singles at the Olympics as the top seed. He began the tournament with a routine win against Australia’s Matthew Ebden and made a significant statement by defeating long-time rival Rafael Nadal in straight sets.
The World No. 2 then triumphed over Dominik Koepfer and continued his dominant performance by overcoming Stefanos Tsitsipas, recording his fourth consecutive straight-sets victory.
The Serb faced Musetti in the semifinals of the Paris Olympics, coincidentally a rematch of their Wimbledon semifinal. The World No. 2 had an eventful win in straight sets, ousting the Italian 6-4, 6-2 in an hour and 49 minutes to reach the men’s singles final at the Paris Olympics, becoming the oldest man to achieve this feat.
However, at the beginning of the second set, Djokovic lost his cool. He received an audible obscenity violation after losing a first serve due to a time violation and argued with the umpire. Later, when Musetti broke his serve for the second time, Djokovic lashed out at his team.
