Carlos Alcaraz’s potential opponents at the 2024 Paris Olympics have been revealed with the release of the men’s singles main draw on Thursday, July 25. This will notably mark the Spaniard’s debut campaign at the Games.
After turning pro in 2018, Carlos Alcaraz has won four Grand Slam titles and topped the ATP rankings for 36 weeks. Although he didn’t make the cut for Spain’s national tennis team in Tokyo, he will shoulder dual responsibilities in Paris, competing alongside Rafael Nadal for the doubles gold.
In the singles event, the second seed will begin his campaign against Lebanon’s Hady Habib in the first round.
To reach the final, Carlos Alcaraz will need to navigate a challenging path. In the second round, he could face Cameron Norrie or Tallon Griekspoor, followed by Alejandro Tabilo or Thiago Seyboth Wild in the third round. The quarterfinals could see him up against Alex de Minaur or Tommy Paul, and the semifinals could feature Daniil Medvedev or Casper Ruud.
In the final, his opponent could be one of Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz, Lorenzo Musetti, or Rafael Nadal. Interestingly, Alcaraz does not have a negative head-to-head record against any of these potential challengers, except Nadal, against whom he trails 1-2.
